All you need to get married in Denmark are the following documents:

 

EU citizens

  • valid identity card or passport
  • an official certificate from the residents' registration office stating your place of residence and marital status
  • if divorced or widowed: final divorce decree or death certificate.

 

Non-EU citizens

  • Valid passport and valid Schengen visa or national visa to one of the Schengen countries
  • Official certificate of marital status. If the authorities in your home country are unable to issue a certificate of your current marital status, you must notify the Danish state administration.
  • if divorced or widowed: final divorce decree or death certificate
  • if not divorced or widowed in the EU country: divorce decree or death certificate must be apostilled.

or

  • valid passport and valid residence permit / fiction certificate.
  • an official certificate from the residents' registration office stating your place of residence and marital status
  • if divorced or widowed: final divorce decree or death certificate
  • if not divorced or widowed in the EU country: divorce decree or death certificate must be apostilled.

With us you don't need a birth certificate or a certificate of no impediment to marriage from your home country.

  

It's essential to note:

Please only scan your documents in high resolution and in color directly from the original. Unfortunately, scans or photos taken with mobile phone apps etc. cannot be accepted. Unfortunately, we cannot accept unclear or incompletely scanned documents for examination. Every newer printer is now able to scan properly. If you do not have your own printer, please contact a copy shop.

All documents must be presented in the original when pre-registering at the Danish registry office.

All documents that are not in German, English or Danish must be translated into one of these languages ​​by a certified translator. Please send us the original and the translation.

Legal entry into Denmark with a fictional certificate (§ 81 AufenthG) is only possible if the residence title is marked as continuing (§ 81 Abs. 4 AufenthG)

Asylum seekers or foreigners with the Duldung status cannot marry in Denmark.
